Touchpoints for April at UCP Dates: April 19th Auction at UCSD Great Hall 6pm April 15th Board Meeting 6pm April 21st to the 27th is TV Turn Off Week April Potluck will be rescheduled Auction for All I will be looking forward to seeing you all at the Auction. We appreciate your support for the program. We depend on the Auction for a number of needs including:
· Play Yard Improvements-a big upgrade in the next two years · Tuition Assistance Fund · Preschool Reserve Fund The Auction essentially enables us to carry out the Mission and Vision of the program. The preschool would not be thriving as it is without it.
Remember to bring friends and grandparents. It is another way to get to know the school they hear about all the time. My sons, Neal and Michael will be coming, as well as my sister
from Los Angeles. It is important to keep the community growing with the extended family involved. It has made my sister much more connected to the program since she has attended
the last few years. If you need extra invitations, let me know.
Underwriting is still needed. Putting information about your business in the Auction Catalogue is really a great way to advertise your business and help us underwrite the Auction.
We need to get this done as soon as possible. I can get e-mail you the underwriting form. Let me know soon.
SOS for Charger Game Tickets. If you can donate a pair of tickets, that would be great.
Many, Many Kudos to the Auction Leaders and Support members who are: Katheryn Haro, Melanie Novak, Cate Pietro-Smith, Hilary Bilodeau, Mariela Reynafarje, Karen Evansen,
Carmelita Talamantes, Stefania Eliason, Liane Fry, Kelly Grelewski, Jeffrey Brown.
Mary Reed, Maureen Rice, Alex Patterson.
The leaders have put in an amazing amount of time to make this event happen. It is going to be a really big PARTY. Remember it’s a rat pack event. Wear your thin tie guys!
Look forward to the music of the era. Patty
TV Turn Off Week
This is a movement started by The Center For Screentime Awareness, and is meant to encourage families to turn off their television for the week and use the time to read with their
children, play games, exercise, explore the outdoors and generally explore life without TV. Statistics have shown that in a single year, American children view 40,000
commercials. It has also been determined that though pediatricians discourage any TV for children under two, children this age watch on average, two hours of TV.
This is definitely food for thought and a good time to monitor what children actually do watch. Many shows and films though marketed to young children are not appropriate.
Try turning the set off for a week and see what the family learns from the experience. The website is: www.screentime.org.

Some Board News
As a Board, we work to guide the program in the right direction, following the vision we have adopted. Day to day issues come up for us to attend to.
In the near future you will see a very clear school jobs update, to provide better direction to understanding both the importance of the completion of each job,
and the general hours or time commitment for the year for that job. There will be a fine for the non-completion of a school job and a reassignment of a new job.
We will also have an earlier start time for cooping. Next year it will be an 8:30 start time.
The fine for late coop arrival will be $10 for late arrival and will go up in increments if there are subsequent late arrivals. We not only have to protect our license,
but we also have to maintain the quality of the program. Unfortunately, fines became necessary to do that.
We will have a new Board of Directors in the fall as well. It will also include returning members, which is crucial for continuity purposes. You will be given the
opportunity to vote on the proposed ballot as soon as we have it finalized. Biographies are included with each candidate. Exercise your voting rights.

Our current staff is not required by contract to work in August and therefore volunteer if they wish to work. I know that Carmelita and Bernie will work
certain weeks during the session. We will do more planning as we get into May and June.
